Protection of Privacy

The University of Alberta will collect personal information that relates directly to and is necessary for operating the programs and activities of the university.

The personal information will be collected in a manner that is consistent with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and will be used and disclosed in a manner that is consistent with the original purposes of collection.

The university will make every reasonable effort to ensure the information is accurate and complete and retain the information for at least one year after using the information in any decision making process.

The university will entertain requests for correction to personal information from individuals who believe there is an error or omission in the individual's personal information.

Finally, the university will ensure the protection of personal information against such risks as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure or destruction.
